1. The guidelines mentioned in this chapter are in accordance with IMO Resolution MEPC.187 (59) and MEPC.1/Circ.736/Rev.2 dated 06 October 2011
2. This guidance only includes sections C to I.
3. Operations should be recorded in chronological order as they have been executed on board.
4. Dates should be entered in dd-MMM-yyyy format, e.g., 19-DEC-2010.
5. It is prohibited to make entries in ORB with Pens with erasers i.e. erasable Pens.
6. Incineration or landing ashore of oily garbage and used filters should be recorded in the Garbage Record Book only. Additionally, on Panama Flag Vessels, for every use of incinerator an entry must be made in the ORB Part III.
7. All Entries are to be made and signed by the Officer or Officers in charge of the operations concerned & Chief Engineer and each completed page shall be signed by the master of the ship.
8. Do not leave any full lines empty between successive entries.
9. If a wrong entry has been recorded in the Oil Record Book (ORB), it should immediately be struck through with a single line in such a way that the wrong entry is still legible. The wrong entry should be signed and dated, with the new corrected entry following.
10. Tank nomenclature should be recorded as per the format noted within the International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate (IOPPC).
11. Ships which are equipped with OCM on which the date and time can be adjusted (like FOCAS1800) they must adjust the date of OCM to GMT.
12. Before every OWS operation 15PPM Alarm functioning to be tested with three-way valve operation.
